Is water ever warm in Larimer County? Do chemical hazards exist? For safety reasons, the Team only dives using dry suit and full-face mask equipment. All team members are required to take this course regardless of their recreational dry suit certification.
A successful mission is when all team members come home safely! Rescue and recovery missions require standard skill sets (both land and water) as well as trust and teamwork. All team members are required to take this course regardless of their recreational dive rescue certification.
Just when you thought it was safe to walk on the ice! The Team practices land logistics and water recovery skills each year to ensure safe and efficient mission results for everyone involved.
Sounds cold, right? Although a bit overwhelming to think about, diving under the ice can be an amazing experience under normal circumstances. In a rescue or recovery situation, all divers are equipped with communications and a secure line. Safety protocols are of upmost importance for a successful mission.
The Poudre River offers amazing recreational opportunities however we sometimes forget about water temperature, water flow and personal floatation devices! Often the busiest time of the year for Team, swiftwater rescue and recovery missions are resource intensive to ensure the safety of the team and other on-scene emergency services.
Events
It’s fundraiser time! Calling all Runners, Walkers, Kids and Dare Devils! A wonderful but chilly community event for which all proceeds go to the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team. While the Dive Team provides water support during the event, we occasionally take the plunge with you!

Sponsored by the Inlet Bay Marina at Horsetooth Reservoir, proceeds from this annual event are shared between Poudre Fire Authority and the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team. Representatives from Poudre Fire and the Dive Team are on-site to answer questions and hang out with patrons of the event!

Interested in swimming 3 miles in open water? An annual event, the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team provides water support to ensure all swimmers stay on course and make it to the finish line! Public Awareness
In partnership with the Mile High Flood District and AECOM, the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team is honored to work with Colorado State University’s Hydraulics Lab, researching how people are injured or killed in drainpipes and have been working on grate designs for different pipe and culvert configurations.
